Goals prove the difference in championship tie

The Kilcummin team that lost out to Spa in the Intermediate Championship

Spa 4-10 Kilcummin 1-5

IMPRESSIVE Spa clinched their first victory of the Kerry LGFA Intermediate Championship against neighbours Kilcummin on a very wet evening at Spa.

Early scores from Kilcummin, including points from Eilis O’Leary and Ciara Kearney gave them control and a great goal by Deborah Murphy, gave them control but Spa chipped away at that lead with scores from Niamh Kearney (two) and Cassandra Buckley and a converted penalty by Kearney.

In a key piece of action, Spa’s captain Ciara Moynihan, at full back, brought the ball from the goa line straight through the centre of the field to pass to Saoirse Kelly who delivered the perfect pass to the awaiting Karol Fleming who segistered a great goal.

Ciara Kearney of Kilcummin and Niamh Kearney from Spa swapped points at half-time the scoreline read Spa 3-5 Kilcummin 1-3. Spa were the stronger team in the second half with Kilcummin scoring only two points, courtesy of Eilis O’Leary and a free for Ciara Kearney.

Spa full forward Saoirse Kelly scored her first point followed by a cracker of a goal which gave goalkeeper Laura Teahan no chance and Lynn Jones and Niamh Kearney both tagged on points for Spa.
