A NEW generation of brilliant young oarswomen from Killarney stole the show at the hotly contested three-day Irish Rowing Championships at the National Rowing Centre in Cork last weekend.

A powerful young crew from Workmen’s Rowing Club clinched gold and celebrated accordingly on the podium after winning the under 14 4X final in brilliant style, powering through to victory over the last 200 metres.

The winning crew comprised Éabh Rudden, Sinead Oliver, Sarah Looney, Kelly O’Connor and cox Ellen Farandon and they were coached by Hannah Majella O’Donoghue and Gary Fleming.

There was a super victory also for Workmen’s Rowing Club star Aodhán Burns who triumphed superbly in the lightweight sculls.
