A great clean-up fit for a King

Volunteers giving the Christ the King monument in Killarney a five-star clean-up

A REAL Killarney landmark has been spruced up well in advance of the upcoming initial visit of the 2018 Tidy Towns competition adjudicators to the town.

The Christ the King monument at the jarvey stand in the Ha Ha has been power-washed and cleaned of weeds and any signs of untidiness by volunteers who are determined to present the town at its vert best for 2018.

Tidy towns campaigners have been out in force in recent weeks, meeting on Monday nights to embark on several clean-up projects, including pruning the roadside overgrowth, collecting any scraps of litter strewn about, removing graffiti and painting premises in need of attention.

And it doesn’t end there as painting work will be carried out at various locations throughout the town this Monday night with volunteers invited to gather at the jarvey stand near the Killarney Plaza Hotel at 6.30pm.

“All equipment will be provided and we would ask as many people as possible to please support our tidy towns team,” said co-ordinator Johnny McGuire.
