WHEN it comes to supporting the black and amber, there are few houses in Killarney that can match the Bartlett homestead.
Husband and wife Harry and Ann Bartlett are passionate Dr Crokes fans, seldom missing a game or a club event and they are both regulars on the sideline when club teams are in action at any level.
It came as no surprise, therefore, that Harry and Ann were named as the joint recipients of the prestigious Supporter of the Year accolade at the annual award ceremony held in Scott’s Hotel, Killarney.
Delighted to be acknowledged, Harry and Ann were presented with the award by club chairman Patrick O’Sullivan and they received a great ovation from the big gathering.
A presentation was also made on the night to Club Person of the Year Paul Downey, a long-serving Dr Crokes secretary, who has devoted so much time and energy to the Lewis Road club.
The Senior Player of the Year award went to Tony Brosnan, the young sharpshooter introduced by Kerry against Meath in Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday, who has had a terrific season in all competitions.
The Junior Player of the Year is John Kerrisk, the Young Player of the Year is Mark Cooper, Ladies Player of the Year is Charlene Brosnan and Hurler of the Year is Michael Lenihan.
A special award was presented to Michael Horgan, Michael Lenihan, Padraic Looney, Tom Doyle, Liam McSherry and Patrick Crehan who were the six Dr Crokes players on the Kenmare/Kilgarvan/Crokes team that won the Under 21 County Hurling Championship.
The senior ladies received their county league winners’ medals, the B team received their Molyneaux Cup medals and minor and under 21s received their East Kerry medals.
