MICHAEL Healy-Rae’s trademark flat cap has received the Royal seal of approval.
The Kerry TD was among the elite list of celebrities that received invitations to a garden party in the British Embassy to welcome Prince Harry and Meghan Markel to Dublin.
The glitzy knees-up was like a who’s who of Irish celebrity life and Deputy Healy-Rae mingled with rugby star Brian O’Driscoll, singer and TV performer Bressie, actors Barry Keoghan and Caitriona Balfe, fashion designer Orla Kiely, Young Offenders star Alex Murphy and TV host Lucy Kennedy as well as several high profile business people and politicians as well as cervical cancer campaigner Vicky Phelan.
The Duchess of Sussex looked stunning in a designer cocktail dress with matching clutch bag but it was the Healy-Rae headgear that grabbed the VIP visitors’ attention.
“As I shook Prince Harry’s hand he admired my cap and asked for me to send one to him to Buckingham Castle,” Deputy Healy-Rae divulged afterwards.
