Home are the heroes as a parish celebrates

East Kerry captain and Rathmore clubman Paul Murphy holds the Bishop Moynihan Cup aloft after it was presented by Kerry County Board Chairman Patrick O’Sullivan

Rathmore turned out in force to welcome and congratulate Captain Fantastic Paul Murphy who became the first player from the club to skipper East Kerry to a senior county football championship.

A big crowd turned out at the community centre to pay tribute to the local players involved in the impressive triumph over Mid Kerry at Austin Stack Park on Sunday afternoon.

Joining Murphy on the star-studded divisional team pane were goalkeeper Shane Ryan, Brendan O’Keeffe and Cathal Ryan while East Kerry PRO, Michael O’Mahony, another Rathmore clubman, was a key part of the backroom team.

The Bishop Moynihan Cup took centre stage in Rathmore and Michael O’Mahony and East Kerry Board Chairman Johnny Brosnan formally welcomed the team and mentors to the parish.
