FUNDING has been secured to run a four-week course in Kilderry Woods in Milltown to provide members of the public an opportunity to destress, reconnect and slow down as part of a free initiative by Healthy Kerry.
Woods for wellbeing is a proven remedy to the stresses and strains faced over the past 18 months and the workshop is grounded in the forest bathing practice of sensory connection, effortless attention and immersing the senses in the forest atmosphere. More a scientific evidence is emerging on the benefits of being out in nature and with restrictions easing, now is the time to rehabilitate after such a long time.
Group sizes will be small so that participants can enjoy a meaningful connection in a quiet and serene environment.
The four-week therapeutic walks will be facilitated by Kerry Walker of the Nature Hub and limited numbers mean that booking is required for the free event which will commence on Thursday next October 7, and continue on the three following Thursdays from 10am to 12 noon.
Funding is being provided by the Community Mental Health Fund, Healthy Kerry and the Maine Valley Family Centre. To get in touch go to [email protected]
