‘It will be very different for Christmas but that doesn’t mean we can’t light up the town’

Mayor of Tralee Cllr Terry O’Brien: Lighting up the town

IT’S beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Kerry and the season to be jolly will feel even closer this weekend when the street lights are officially switched on in Tralee.

Kerry County Council is all set to present When Christmas Comes to Town –  a 360-degree virtual reality Christmas lights ceremony at 7.00pm on this Sunday evening on the local authority’s YouTube channel and the social medial platforms of Kerry County Council and the Tralee Chamber Alliance.

Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Terry O’Brien, said due to the current Level 5 restrictions, the Tralee Municipal District Council is unable to present the usual switching on ceremony this year but the councillors and staff have come up with a novel way of bringing the celebration and joy to our capital town,

So it’s time to dust down those virtual reality goggles and gather around YouTube to tune into proceedings from the heart of Tralee to celebrate the 2020 street lights ceremony.

“It will all be very different for Christmas but that doesn’t mean we can’t light up the town and make the place as festive as possible,” said Mayor O’Brien.
