IT’S all over bar the fireworks. And maybe just a little bit of shouting.
King Puck has been taken off his lofty perch overlooking Killorglin and he is being prepared for a return to the wilds after three days of revelry and excitement at Puck Fair 2017.
Queen of Puck, Catelin Horgan, has officiated at her last ceremony and the Scattering Day dethronement ceremony and parade took place on the packed streets this Saturday evening.
After a very successful festival, crowds gathered once more in the town square keen to catch an eagle-eyed view of the ceremonies at which Puck Fair Chairman, Declan Mangan, officiated.
Denis and Amanda Murphy from Milltown presented the festival with a congratulatory citation from the people of Massachusetts USA to the people of Killorglin which was read to thousands of people at the dethronement of King Puck and celebrated the success of Ireland’s most iconic festival.
The night is still young, of course, and the festivities will continue for several more hours with a spectacular line up of entertainment planned for the streets and the pubs in a town where, for three days and night, a goat rules the people and the people act the goat.
