Kerry Airport’s transition towards a greener and more sustainable operation continues at pace and management have committed to the science-based targets initiative for greenhouse gas emissions, the facility’s annual general meeting will hear.
The airport is nearing the full conversion of its vehicle fleet to electric and a detailed feasibility study is underway into on-campus energy generation.
Chief Financial Officer, Basil Sheerin, said, operationally, the airport performed satisfactorily throughout 2024, meeting and exceeding all applicable safety and security protocols.
“Our journey of recovery and growth continued throughout 2024, marking the second consecutive year in which we handled over 400,000 passengers,” Mr Sheerin said.
The year concluded with a total of 417,409 passengers and current expectations for 2025 suggest that figure will be exceeded.

Turnover for the year reached €8,551,354, representing a three per cent year-on-year increase.
“This growth was driven by strong performances in our fuel, gift shop/duty fee and car park operations.
“However, administrative expenses remain a challenge, with increased costs in wages, local authority rates, energy and maintenance exerting pressure on our gross profit margin,” Mr Sheerin stated.

“We continue to monitor these areas rigorously to ensure optimal value for money,” he added.
Kerry Airport has reported a final profit of €1,373,300, a 14 per cent increase on 2023, supported by government grants of €1,392,878.
“This result is particularly welcome in light of our planned capital expenditure of over €4.4 million in 2025,” the Chief Financial Officer stressed.
Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive following the opening of a new arrivals hall in March 2025 and the upgraded facility includes enhanced immigration and customs areas, a modernised public foyer and improved bathroom amenities.
In addition, construction is currently underway on the expansion of the departures hall, due for completion by the end of July 2025. This extension will offer increased seating capacity, a new smoking area, an additional boarding gate and expanded catering facilities.
