Kerry champs test their prowess against Rebels

Killarney Celtic manager Brian Spillane

CORK City FC are coming to town.

The League of Ireland First Division side will take on Kerry soccer kingpins Killarney Celtic in a glamour friendly at Celtic Park next Saturday afternoon.

Cork boss Colin Healy and Celtic’s Brian Spillane will lead their sides into action in what will prove to be a valuable pre-season warm-up for City and a useful mid-season encounter for Celtic, the reigning champions who are again setting a hot pace in the Kerry premier division with nine victories from nine outings.

Celtic and Cork City have enjoyed a great relationship down through the years but, due to the pandemic, is has now been almost three years since Killarney has been able to welcome the city slickers to Celtic Park (kick-off: 3.00pm).

“We are looking forward to an exceptional game of football and an entertaining afternoon,” said Celtic vice chairman Paul Sherry.

The number of spectators allowed on the day will be extremely limited and Celtic officials will be obliged to put the required measures in place to ensure contract tracing.

Admission is €5 per adult and under 16s will be admitted free of charge. All supporters are asked to mask wearing and social distancing requirements at the venue.
