Kerry hotshots pool their resources

THREE talented Kerry pool players, including two from Killarney, had the honour of representing Ireland at the Home Internationals which took in Stockport, Manchester.

Margaret O’Driscoll from Headford was an integral part of the ladies’ team, John Lynch from Killarney was on the over 50’s team while Mike Moriarty from Brosna made the Men’s B grade.

No silverware was won but it was a great honour for Kerry players to represent Ireland in international competition.

Meanwhile, in the Irish Pool Challenge tour event, held in the South Court Hotel in Limerick, a strong Kerry contingent of 12 players entered the singles tournaments which attracted 160 players with three Kerry players bringing home silverware.

Margaret O’Driscoll won the ladies’ title – with opposition from 23 others – when she defeated multiple Irish champion Sandra Bryan from Wexford 5-1 in the semi-final and won the final 6-3 against Megan Randle of Kilkenny.

Aaron Templeman (Brosna) was runner-up in the under 18 final, losing to Sean Walsh (Cork) by six frames to three. Mike Moriarty (Brosna) reached the over 50’s plate final which will be played at the next in Tullamore on the weekend of November 22/23.
