Killarney to Club together for a great event

The Killarney Order of Malta Ambulance Corps will be one of the organisations participating

OVER 50 clubs have now been lined up to showcase what they do and what they are about at the Killarney Lions Club Kerry Clubs Fair which will take place at Killarney Racecourse on Sunday, January 20.

The event will provide people in Kerry with all the information they might require about activities they can be part of and clubs and organisations they can join in the county.

“The idea is to give people a chance to meet clubs and other organisations that are active in the community and, hopefully, find something they are interested in,” said Killarney Lions Club President, Ronan Doyle.

“It could be that someone wants to try a new activity, or is new to the area, or wants to give back to their community through volunteering,” he added.

Free and open to all, from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, the event will feature clubs and societies that people might like to participate in or volunteer with, be it for fun, recreation or just to be involved.

Lions Club members are hoping that in addition to providing awareness about activities, the Kerry Clubs Fair will help improve health and well-being in the community by addressing isolation and loneliness that people may be experiencing.

Clubs and organisations lined up include the Men’s Sheds organisation, First Responders, Killarney Rotary Club, Kerry Archaeological and Historical Society, Comhaltas, Dóchas Drama Group, Killarney Musical Society, Killarney Active Retired, Silverbacks Walking Group, Kerry Stars, Mountain Meitheal, Killarney Mental Health Association, Order of Malta, Tidy Towns, No Name Club and several sports clubs.
