Young ladies with a keen interest in culture and international relations, members of an organisation known as the Arizona Irish Colleens, have visited Killarney where they were welcomed by local community and political leaders and member of the Killarney Town Twinning Association.

The Colleens have forded strong links with sister cities and towns in Ireland – including Killarney – and this year they visited five locations in Ireland, Ennis, Tullamore, Newtownabbey, Roscommon and Killarney with the latter twinned with Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Arizona Colleen programme is an Irish heritage pageant for single women of Irish descent, age between 18 and 28.
In recent weeks former Arizon Colleens, Ceili Olne and Callan Dalton Gist and 2022 Arizona Colleen, Lynn Cosgrove, enjoyed a whistle-stop visit to Killarney where they were formally welcomed and entertained by Mayor of Killarney, Cllr Niall Kelleher, Town Twinning Association Chairman Seán Counihan and Ireland South MEP Seán Kelly, the former President of the Gaelic Athletic Association.
