THE Cahernane Country House Hotel in Killarney has been deemed the winner of the Ireland’s Best Country House and Guest House Experience at the Hotel & Catering Gold Medal Awards.
Considered the Oscars of the hospitality industry, the award was presented to general manager, Emer Corridan, at a gala awards ceremony, hosted by TV3 presenter Martin King, in the Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny last night.
The Europe Hotel and Resort in Killarney clinched the award for the Best Five Star Hotel Spa Experience while the Kingsley Hotel in Cork won the four-star equivalent.
The Europe’s sister hotel, the plush five-star Dunloe Hotel and Gardens scooped the award for being Ireland’s Best Designed Hotel.
Other Kerry successes saw the Best Hotel Website award going to Ballyseede Castle in Tralee – which was also deemed the Favourite Place to Stay in Munster – while the Best Event Caterer award went to Brook Foods for its work at this year’s Rose Ball in Tralee.
Now celebrating 31 years, the Gold Medal Awards are the leading independent awards for the Irish hospitality industry and aim to recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of the hotel and catering sector throughout the country over the past twelve months.
Over a three-month period, the judges visit every property that entered before selecting their category and overall winners.
