IT already boasts an unrivalled location right on the shores of the Lakes of Killarney but now the Lake Hotel has more reason than ever before to celebrate after receiving not one but five prestigious awards for excellence.

As the business prepared to reopen for the season on July 9, word filtered through of the major impact the hotel and its staff had made at the Irish Hotel Awards following a rigorous inspection earlier in the year.

The awards celebrate the amazing commitment and dedication in the hospitality industry in Ireland to providing outstanding guest experiences.

The Lake Hotel received a total of five awards, including four Best in Munster accolades, Fine Dining Hotel of the Year, the Great Irish Breakfast Award and Country House Hotel of the Year while staff member Anthony Barber was named Munster’s Restaurant Manager of the Year.

The Lake Hotel also received a Great Place to Stay Quality Award in recognition of the overall quality of the product and service provided.

Sales and Marketing Manager, Sheila O’Callaghan, remarked: “We are extremely proud of our team and to be recognised for excellence across so many categories is a fantastic achievement”.

She added: “These awards are a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our outstanding team.”

The hotel’s Castlelough Restaurant is a multi-award winning entity, previously awarded Best Hotel Restaurant, retaining a 2AA Rosette for five consecutive years and it is now recognised as the Best Fine Dining venue in Munster.

“The success of the hotel’s dining space is due to the experience and commitment of Restaurant Manager, Anthony Barber, Executive Chef Noel Enright and both their teams,” said Sheila.

The Lake Hotel also received Munster’s Great Irish Breakfast award due to the faultless work ethic of breakfast chef Asta Penggai who joined the team five years ago.

The four-star property has been owned and operated by the Huggard family for over 100 years.
