Lakers must hit the road for home cup tie

Scott’s Lakers coach Jarlath Lee

SCOTT’S Lakers will play their eagerly awaited National Cup preliminaty round game against Portlaoise Panthers in Castleisland as their usual home venue at the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre has still not been signed off as a coronavirus vaccination centre.

The game, which promises to be an exciting encounter, will tip-off at 7.30pm on Saturday night.

Lakers, coached by Jarlath Lee, will be hoping to put the disappointment of a 14-point National League Division 1 loss to Fr Mathews of Cork last weekend behind them as they seek to get off to what could be a very strong cup run.

Despite the 64-78 reverse, one of the real positives for Lakers/St Paul’s on the night was that Jason Lee and Daniel Carroll both made their National League debuts and bot are hugely exciting players.
