Lakers recover from cup exit heartbreak

Aaron Jackson: Top scorer

AARON Jackson hit 23 points, Toby Christensen chipped in with 17, Mick McGinn contributed 13 and Carlton Cuff nine as Scott’s Lakers just about edged past a sticky LYIT Donegal on a 77-74 scoreline in Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre on Saturday night.

The win, as hard fought as it was narrow, will help the Killarney side to recover from their cup exit at the hands of Ballincollig and it was a significant achievement as the Donegal side has got off to a flier this season, winning their five opening league games.

American Manny Payton top scored for LYIT on 20, Spanish guard Mario Garcia knocked in 17 and German player Dominique Uhl scored 16.

In the Superleague Keane’s SuperValu Killorglin powered past Abbey Seals Dublin Lions on a 93-76 scoreline with 6’4” guard Allan Thomas hitting 29 points while, in Tralee, champions Garvey’s Warriors had a comfortable 89-63 win against Moycullen with Jonathan Lawton hitting 20, Eoin Quigley on 16 and Daniel Jokubaitis on 13.
