THE death occurred this Thursday of Donie O’Leary, from Inch, Kilcummin, Killarney, who was a very accomplished traditional Irish musician and a great GAA stalwart following the fortunes of his beloved Kilcummin and Kerry teams.

Donie, who passed away peacefully, in the care of his wife Teresa and family, will be remembered by many from his days working with from MD O’Shea’s on New Street and, previously, with Doyle Brothers. A very diligent and dedicated worker, he forged many great friendships throughout his working life.
Donie was a colourful and affable character who was very popular and he always went that extra mile to help others whenever possible..

In addition to attending GAA matches at every available opportunity, his other great passion was Irish music and he derived great enjoyment from watching his grandchildren continue the tradition.
Donie is survived by his wife, Teresa, sons Anthony, Seanie and Daniel, daughters-in-law Maria, Sheila and Jen, his grandchildren Amanda, Aoife, Steven, Shauna, Oisin and Rebecca and great grand-daughter Naoise.

Pre-deceased by his sisters, Sheila and Kathleen, and brother Jerry, Donie is further survived by his brother Pat and sister Eileen, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nephews and nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
Reposing at O’Shea’s Funeral home, Killarney this Friday from 7.00pm to 9.00pm, removal will take place afterwards to Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kilcummin.
Requiem Mass will be on Saturday at 11.00am with burial afterwards in Holy Cross Cemetery, Kilcummin.
The family has requested donation in lieu of flowers, if desired, to be made to palliative care.
