Led Zeppelin frontman visited for festive season

A true rock music legend experienced the great hospitality on offer in Killarney during the festive season.

Superstar Robert Plant spent five days and nights in Killarney, enjoying the local sights, visiting local bars and restaurants and meeting fans who could scarcely believe their eyes when he walked through the doors.

He stayed in the five-star Aghadoe Heights Hotel with his partner, Dawn Anglin, and he made several visits to town during his stay, enjoying a drink with locals in The Speakeasy Bar on High Street and also visiting a number of other local establishments.

They also enjoyed the New Year’s Eve celebrations in the town.

Hillwalking enthusiasts Robert and Dawn also embarked on a number of hikes and strolls in Killarney and they also took the time to visit Dingle and Kenmare and tour part of the Ring of Kerry.

Aghadoe Heights Hotel General Manager, Brian Bowler, said it was ”an absolute honour” to welcome Robert and Dawn to the hotel and he was delighted to meet and greet such an iconic musician.

The iconic English singer-songwriter – one of the best of his or any generation – was the lead singer and lyricist with Led Zeppelin for over 30 years until the band broke up in 1980.

He went on to enjoy a remarkable solo career and he is regarded as one of the greatest live performers in rock music history.

Now aged 76, the hugely charismatic frontman was a contemporary of Mick Jagger of The Rolling Stones, Jim Morrison of The Doors and Roger Daltry of The Who and,during his multi award-winning career, he was ranked as one of the best lead singers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine.
