Lissivigeen and Tiernaboul now included in programme

Lissivigeen National School has been included in the hot meals programme

A total of 12 new schools – including two in Killarney – have been included in an expansion of the Government’s hot school meals programme.

The scheme was first set up in 2019 with a pilot of 30 schools but has now expanded to almost 2,200 primary schools.

Close on 70 primary schools in Kerry are currently operating the programme and this is now being extended to a further 12 primary schools in the county, including Tiernaboul National School and Lissivigeen National School.

Minister for Education and Kerry TD, Norma Foley, said he programme has been a tremendous success and it is fantastic that it has now been expanded to more schools in Kerry.

“There are 8,984 children in Kerry currently benefiting from free hot school meals and the addition of 12 more schools to the programme will increase this even further,” she stated.
