BRIDES and grooms-to-be have been assured that their luck has turned if they take the gamble of booking their wedding day for Friday 13th next year or the year after.
There’s an old saying that the date is unlucky day for some but the team at The Brehon Hotel in Killarney has devised a clever plan to ward off bad luck for couples getting married on this infamous date.
The hotel’s bespoke wedding package, for couples opting to tie the knot on any Friday 13th in 2019 or 2020, will include a range of old Irish traditions believed to bring good luck to newly-weds.
The package includes a harpist playing at the drinks reception, to ward off evil spirits, a bottle of whiskey to sprinkle on the threshold to stop anyone with malicious intent from joining the celebrations, the loan of the hotel’s Child of Prague to encourage fine weather and a horseshoe to bring good luck.
And if that wasn’t enough they are offering €1,300 off the cost of the wedding festivities.
