A SMALL annual investment to support a weekly lotto draw operated by a local sports club has earned one well-known Killarney man a bumper cash prize.

Batty ‘Skips’ O’Sullivan was thrilled when he became Killarney Celtic FC’s biggest ever lotto prizewinner with a super €16,000 jackpot.

Batty, from Knocknaskeha in Spa, invests every year in an annual ticket to support the reigning league and cup double champions and his loyalty paid off when his lucky numbers were plucked from the draw drum.

Batty, who became known as ‘Skips’ when he operated a busy skip hire company, had chosen the numbers 2, 6, 9 and 23 and it landed him the record jackpot prize.

Killarney Celtic FC Chairman, Paul Sherry, remarked: “We’re absolutely thrilled for Batty as he is a great supporter of Celtic.

He added: “The lotto is our only source of fundraising and Batty is always there to support us and to help us out with anything we need”.

Paul added: “This win genuinely couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy”.

The Celtic weekend lotto jackpot is now at €5,200.
