A MAJOR search is underway near Kilgarvan this Sunday afternoon for a woman who has been reported missing after she took to the water in a kayak earlier in the day.
The coastguard, fire service gardaí, paramedics, ambulance personnel and other members of the emergency services are at the scene and an extensive search of the water and shoreline of a section of the Roughty River is in progress.
The alarm was raised close to 1.00pm and a full-scale search operation was put in place with local people helping out in any way they can.
