Man arrested in Killarney death investigation

The late Miriam Burns

A man has been arrested for questioning in relation to the death of a woman in Killarney last August.

Miriam Burns, a 75-year-old grandmother, was found dead at her home in Ardshanavooley Estate on August 15 last with gardai, at the time, citing unexplained circumstances and saying they were keeping an open mind in the investigation.

A man, 50s, has today been arrested in Cork City and is being detained at a local station.

The man is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and a spokesman said investigations are ongoing.

Ms Burns was found dead in the front room of her home after one of her children, who lives abroad, grew concerned for her welfare and contacted neighbours.

There was no sign of forced entry in her home and a murder investigation was launched following a post mortem examination. Everyone reads it – ask anyone. Call 087-2229761
