Marathon will pass Linda’s important landmarks

The late Linda Eviston: Marathon in her memory

THE husband and son of a hugely popular Killarney woman, who died last year, are planning a run a marathon in her memory to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Mum of two Linda Eviston passed away last October after a long battle with illness. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 but, following extensive treatment, she returned to good health. Al;though the cancer returned in 2015, Linda continued to live a full life until her passing.

Now her husband Patrick and son Erik, with the support of her daughter Alannah and family and fiends, will run a distance of 42.2km to raise money for the fight against cancer on behalf of Linda.

They have set a target of €10,000 and they specifically want to help the palliative care night nursing service for families who are caring for their loved ones at home and to support clinical trials for new cancer treatments.

The marathon, planned for October 9, will follow a route based on landmarks that were an important part of Linda’s life.

It will start from the family home in Dromkerry and into Killarney town where Patrick and Erik will pass by Eviston House Hotel where Linda was a director.

They will then run past Linda’s grandmother’s home on Park road, her childhood home and national school in Glenflesk, Loreto Road where Linda attended secondary school and back to Killarney before finishing at Brook Lodge Hotel which is also owned by the Eviston family.

All proceeds will be donated to the Irish Cancer Society and donations, which would be greatly appreciated, can be made via https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/inhonouroflinda.
