KILLARNEY Legion GAA Club’s senior ladies’ squad and officials embarked on a marathon with a difference when they took to the roads for a charity run with a difference in aid of a great cause.
They had set themselves a total target of 250km but, in spite of the challenges thrown up by the scorching heat on Saturday last, they put in extra effort and finished up having covered an impressive 375km.
Each player or coach has set themselves an individual target and, in many cases, the distances were exceeded.
In doing so, they have already raised a cool €4,300, through sponsorship for the Kerry Hospice Foundation On May 30 the ladies hope to raise awareness as well as funds for Kerry Hospice Foundation which includes the palliative care unit in University Hospital Kerry as well as the specialist palliative community care service.
The Legion ladies have thanked everyone involved and everyone who generously donated.
“It was a massive achievement by everyone involved,” they said.
