Turning her focus from housing and roads to music and dance for one night only, the Mayor of Killarney has raised thousands of euro for two great causes.
Cllr Maura Healy-Rae, the emphatic poll-topper in last year’s local elections, held a charity night in the Gleneagle Hotel which attracted a bumper crowd from all parts of the county and beyond.

Music on the night was provided by Neily O’Connor, Derry and Rosie Healy and Up in Smoke and, such was the atmosphere, people were on the floo showing off their dancing abilities until the early hours.
Proceeds from the event were shared between the Social Action Group in Rathmore and the Kerry Cancer Support Group and a total of €6,775 was raised.
“I thank everyone who supported this event in aid of two organisations who provide invaluable care to vulnerable people in our community,” Mahyor Healy-Rae said.
“I also want to thank the Gleneagle Hotel for the venue and the brilliant entertainers on the night,” she added.
