A FUND set up to help repatriate the body of a Polish man killed in an accident in Killarney has raised almost double the target set.
Friends of Mariusz Kryszak started the GoFundMe page with the hope of raising €5,000 to cover the funeral expenses but, in just three days, just under €10,000 has been donated by a total of 214 people.
Father of one Mariusz lost his life when his bicycle was in a collision with a car at Joy’s Cross, near the Gap of Dunloe at 8 o’clock last Sunday morning.
He died at the scene and his remains were removed to University Hospital Kerry where a post mortem examination was carried out.
45-year-old Mariusz worked as a concierge in the Dunloe Hotel and Gardens where he was hugely popular with management, staff and guests.
The hotel has organised a memorial Mass for Mariusz to celebrate his life and to allow friends and colleagues to come together to remember him.
It will be held in the Prince of Peace Church in Fossa at 7.30pm on Monday, June 17 and all are welcome to attend.
