Minister is solid as a Rock in Valentia

IT’S been seven years since the Brennan brothers paid a visit to offer their expert advice but the Royal Valentia Hotel on Valentia Island rolled out the red carpet for a much more influential visitor in recent days.

Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, was on hand to officially open a newly refurbished function room which, perhaps not surprisingly given recent developments, has been named the Skellig Rock room.

The historic Royal Valentia, on the beautiful Island of Valentia, was acquired several years ago by Vincent Kidd and his sister Fiona and they declared at the time “It was such a unique place that it just blew us away.”

Valerie O’Sullivan’s picture, taken at the official opening of the Skellig Rock function room at the Royal Valentia Hotel, shows Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin, with proprietors, Dermot Kidd and Fiona Kidd, and unveiling the plaque Vincent Kidd.
