Ministerial approval for credit union dedication

A meeting to underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening community-based financial institutions and recognise the critical role credit unions play in fostering economic growth and financial inclusion has been held in Killarney.

The event, which was attend by representatives of Killarney Credit Union, Cara Credit Union, Rathmore and District Credit Union, Listowel Credit Union, Abbeyfeale Credit Union, the Irish League of Credit Unions and Department of Finance, was attended by the Minister of State with responsibility for Financial Services, Neale Richmond.

It covered many of the topics and issues concerning the local credit unions.

Killarney Credit Union

Minister Richmond toured the facilities and engaged with staff and members, gaining valuable insights into the daily operations and the unique challenges faced by credit unions.

He commended the Credit Unions of Kerry and West Limerick for their unwavering dedication to providing affordable financial services and for their innovative methods designed to meet the diverse needs of members.

Joy Clifford Vaughan. Chairperson of Killarney Credit Union, said they were are honoured to have Minister Richmond visit.

“It reinforces the importance of the work we do here in Kerry and West Limerick. Our mission is to empower our members through financial education and personalised services and with the support of the government, we can expand our reach and impact even further,” she said.
