Daragh O’Callaghan

Report: Jason O’Connor

THERE was no joy for either of the Kerry pairs taking part in Pitch and Putt Ireland’si naugural national scotch foursomes finals in Bellewstown, Co Meath on Sunday although Tralee pair Lisa O’Connor and Tony Blake did finish three points off a prize in the mixed section with a total of 87 points.

Their rounds of 44 and 43 points was 11 off the winning score for the section of 98 points but 90 points won the second session prize for the category Lisa and Tony were involved in.

Deerpark Killarney duo Lorcan Martin and Darragh O’Callaghan had a disappointing outing in the non-mixed section meanwhile with 71 points, 27 points of the winning score in that

section which was also 98 points.

The Munster scotch foursomes finals will take place on Sunday, September 29 in St Stephens in Cork.

Next weekend, meanwhile, will see teams from Deerpark and Tralee head to the national inter-club qualifying tournament in Bruff, Co Limerick on Saturday looking to make it to the knockout stages of the nett men’s event.

Two teams from Deerpark and one from Tralee are entered as they hope to finish in the top five of the strokeplay qualifying event which would guarantee them a spot in next month’s quarter-finals.
