Killarney Celtic celebrate their Kerry Youths League success

NEWLY crowned FAI Youths Cup champions Killarney Celtic added domestic honours to their national title at the weekend when they clinched the Kerry Youths League title in impressive fashion.

Opponents Killorglin AFC gave the Youths Cup winners a guard of honour before the game and it wasn’t long before Celtic hit the front when Evan Looney split the defence to allow Terry Sparling to finish past the advancing keeper.

Sparling then turned provider for Dylan Callaghan who finished to the net from the edge of the box.

Celtic were three up shortly afterwards when a Cian Doe cross was not cleared and the same player followed up to slot home.

Celtic finished their scoring for the day when a quick counter attack between Terry Sparling and James Darmody created a chance for Dylan Callaghan leaving Jackson O’Mahony to tap home the rebound.

At senior level Celtic are also making their presence felt with a 5-3 win against Listowel Celtic in the League Cup semi-final – the goals coming from Stephen McCarthy (2), Lee Downing, Gary Keane and Ryan Kelliher – while in the Greyhound Bar Cup semi-final goals from Gary Keane, Cathal O’Shea, Lee Downing, Shane Lowth and Conor McCarthy gave Brian Spillane’s side a 5-0 win against Classic FC.
