IT wasn’t all fun and games at the Killarney Mountain Festival this weekend and while many opted to sit back, keep warm and enjoy listening to some of the guest speakers indoors, the more daring braced the icy weather this Sunday to take part in the festival Hardman Ireland 10k run in the park.
It was bitterly cold and hailstone never looked far away as the athletes powered through the course and the only consolation was the spectacular scenery they got to enjoy along the way.
First home on the day was Aidan O’Shea in a hugely impressive time of 00.31:37 and he finished ahead of Cornelius Marshall (00.34:22) and Arthur Fitzgerald (00.34:51).
The first woman to cross the line was Jenny Rice in a very fast 00.41: 29 ahead of Caroline Murphy (00.44:30) and Alannah Keena (00.44:35).
