MANY live concerts might now be on hold due to the Covid-19 outbreak but the audiences at two outstanding performances by musical maestro Liam O’Connor and singer-songwriter Brian Kennedy certainly have pleasant memories to reflect on and sustain them this week.
The first show was in the Church of the Assumption in Moyvane where Parish Priest, Fr Kevin McNamara, was the host and O’Connor, Kennedy and the O’Connor family, with guests, left the audience enthralled with a power-packed performance in the acoustically wonderful setting.
After that it was on to St Brendan’s College in Killarney where the gifted multi-instrumentalist O’Connor and Kennedy linked up again for a special performance in the college chapel and they were joined on the night by the school band and choir.
Special guest on the evening was former Ireland rugby head coach Joe Schmidt who delivered a thought-provoking address to those in attendance.
In six years under his leadership, Ireland won three Six Nations Championships and recorded their first-ever wins over his home nation of New Zealand.
