THE search is on to find a performer to represent Kerry in the national final of a competition to promote Irish music.
Radio Kerry and other independent radio stations will link up with Hot Press for Irish Music Month this October with one act performer given the chance to win €5,000 to support their career.
Five acts will perform live on the afternoon show with Brendan Fuller on Radio Kerry with one chosen to represent the county in the national final. The five acts will each receive a one-off payment of €700.
Elaine Kinsella, Head of Music at Radio Kerry, said it has been an extremely difficulty 18 months for everyone involved in the entertainment industry and it’s important to give local artists the chance to perform live and represent the county at a national level.
30 per cent of Radio Kerry’s general playlist is already dedicated to music by Irish artists and that support will be affirmed through the station’s involvement with Irish Music Month.
