O’Shea gets central role against Tipp

Seanie O’Shea will start at midfield and captains the side

SEANIE O’Shea will line-out at midfield for Kerry in their McGrath Cup clash with Tipperary in Templetuohy tonight (7.00pm).

The influential attacker, accustomed to more advanced positions with the county team, has extensive centre field experience with Kenmare Shamrock and he undoubtedly has the physique and stamina to make a mark in the position.

Jack O’Connor’s hand has been forced in many ways as he has to plan without the injured David Moran as well as Jack Barry and Diarmud O’Connor who are in club action with Na Gaeil and other midfield options like Joe O’Connor and Greg Horan who are involved in the Munster Club Championship with Austin Stacks.

O’Shea, partnered tonight by Adrian Spillane, will also captain the side and Kerry will be hoping to maintain their winning ways under O’Connor following the emphatic outing against a very poor Limerick side last week.

In the absence of David Clifford, who is on Sigerson Cup duty with UL, Glenflesk sharpshooter Darragh Roche slots in the full forward line while Shane Ryan from Rathmore returns between the posts in place of Shane Murphy of Dr Crokes who started last week.

The newly married Paul Murphy returns defence as does Tadgh Morley while Micheál Burns of Dr Crokes also starts.
