O’Shea shows the way for the Kingdom

Paul O’Shea: Impressed for Kerry

A BIG performance from Kilcummin’s Paul O’Shea, four points from classy wing forward Paul Walsh and three from Killian Falvey helped the Kerry Under 20s to a double scores victory over Limerick and it booked them a place in the Munster final against old foes Cork next week.

Without reaching even third gear, John Sugrue’s side triumphed on a 0-14 to 0-7 and they held the upper hand all through on a miserable day in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale.

Kerry had no shortage of big guns to call on and with former star minors Walsh and Falvey pointing the way, Glenflesk’s Patrick D’Arcy, Killarney Legion’s Darragh Lyne, Paul O’Shea of Kilcummin and Luka Brosnan of Castleisland Desmonds all put in a great hour’s work.

Kerry – who were guilty of some sloppy wides – led 0-6 to 0-3 at the break but they were more impressive on the restart with O’Shea, in particular, catching they eye.

One of the Tralee CBS heroes of last weekend’s Corn Uí Mhuirí victory over St Brendan’s College, Killarney, skillful attacker Seán Quilter came on late in the game for Kerry and chipped in with a point as Sugrue’s charges ran out comfortable winners.

But the manager and his players will realise only too well that unless they up their performance for the clash with Cork, the outcome might not be as positive.

Kerry scorers: P Walsh 0-4 (0-3 frees); K Falvey 0-3; P O’Shea 0-2; L Brosnan 0-1, P D’Arcy 0-1; M O’Gara 0-1; R Ó Beaglaoich 0-1; S Quilter 0-1.
