Passing of Crock O’Gold bar and guesthouse owner

THE death has occurred in Killarney of Con McCarthy who operated a very busy public house, restaurant and guesthouse in the town for several years.

He was the owner of the Crock O’Gold on High Street which was a very popular live music venue for many years with a great customer base of locals and tourists in search of traditional Irish music. It was located where The Sportsman’s Bar now stands.

Mr McCarthy, who lived in Scrahan Court, Ross Road and was formerly from Knocknabro, Clonkeen, is survived by his wife, May, sons Neil and Stephen, brothers John, Denis and Donal and sisters Nora and Mary Ellen.

He is further survived by his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and a large circle of friends.

Reposing at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney on Monday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, removal will take place afterwards to St Mary’s Cathedral.

Requiem Mass will be on Tuesday morning at 10.30am with burial afterwards in Aghadoe Lawn Cemetery, Killarney.
