Pieta House to benefit from dawn event

The tractor run, in memory of Richard Giles, will raise funds for Pieta House

HUNDREDS of tractor drivers from all over the county and beyond are expected to take to the roads of Killarney this Sunday for a memorial tractor run in memory of a much-loved Killarney machinery and vehicle enthusiast who died three years ago.

Last year’s tractor run around Killarney

They will set off in darkness at 7.00am, with registration for two hours prior to that, at Killarney Country Club which was close to the Laharn, Faha home of the late Richard Giles who passed away in September 2015.

The fundraising event in Richard’s memory will generate donations for Pieta House which provides a very valuable suicide and self-harm counselling service.

The Darkness into Light memorial tractor run took place for the first time last New Year’s Eve (video link below) with over 220 tractors rolling in to take part in an hour-and-a-half loop around the Killarney area.

The family and friends of Richard Giles believe a tractor run is a fitting tribute to him given his great love of machinery  All modern and vintage tractors are welcome and there will be a €20 registration fee.
