Players target Munster Strokeplay

Deerpark Pitch and Putt Club

It was a good morning for the club’s contingent in the Munster Strokeplay qualifiers last Sunday on home turf as Damien Fleming and John McGrath (senior), Gearóid Cronin, John O’Brien and Kieran Fitzpatrick (intermediate) and Sean Ashe from the Gleneagle (junior) all qualified for the finals in Lakeside, Templemore on the weekend of June 16/17. The course was in great condition and proved a big test for all competitors.

Bob Casey: Deerpark remains fourth after two rounds of the Bob Casey with the third round of play held on Tuesday night at Deerpark. We ask everyone to make an effort to

play on the final night in Castleisland next Tuesday, June 5 at 6.30pm. The entry fee is €5 for those who haven’t played yet. The presentation of prizes for the competition as well as the Paul O’Sullivan Memorial Scramble will take place on the night.

Competitions: The Wednesday competitions begin next Wednesday, June 6 at 7pm. They are open to club members aged 15 or over. The entry €is 4 with a fee of €1 taken out for a hole-in-one pool over the summer.

Times: In the June bank holiday weekend competitions there are draw times of 9.15am and 11.15am on both Sunday and Monday this year. Please note course closed to all for day after Sunday’s draws due to the Munster semi-fnal between Kerry and Clare in Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Clubhouse: Please note that for the month of June the clubhouse will be open each day from 12pm-9pm weekdays and 12pm-8pm weekends.

Matchplay: Damien Fleming, John McGrath and Jason O’Brien all compete in the National Matchplay finals this weekend in Tullamore. We hope for a good showing by all three this weekend. In the Club Matchplay/County Strokeplay the entry fee of €10 is now being taken for same and must be with the club by next Monday. Contact John or Kieran for more info.
