A PRIVATE funeral is to take place for the elderly couple who were found dead in their home in Kenmare at the weekend.
In a notice on RIP.ie, it stated that the service for Tony and Phyllis Gilbert will be private in accordance with government and HSE guidelines with private cremation afterwards at the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Cork
The family notice said they are fondly remembered by their son, Stephen, and his partner Hilary, their daughter-in-law Beryl, grandchildren Skylar and Felicity, neighbours and friends.
The family has thanked everybody for their support and understanding at this difficult time.
The bodies of Tony and Phyllis, both in their early 80s and very popular in Kenmare, were discovered inside their house in the Dromneavane estate on Sunday morning.
Gardai were alerted after a caller to the property found a note pinned to the front door and the remains were discovered shorty after.
Tony and Phyllis moved to Kerry almost 30 years ago from Norfolk in the UK and they had played an active role in the town were Tony worked as a very gifted stained glass craftsman and engraver.
Gardaí are not treating the deaths as suspicious.
