Probe into hot oil assault continues

garda sign.jpgGARDAI in Killarney are still searching for a man they want to interview in connection with a serious assault that occurred in a takeaway restaurant in the town on Christmas Eve.

The man, a Chinese national, hasn’t been seen since the incident and it is believed he has left the Kerry area.

A woman was very badly injured when boiling oil was poured down her neck and back in a violent assault that is believed to have happened in the kitchen of the premises on Rock Road shortly after 3 o’clock that afternoon.

The victim, also a Chinese national and aged 32, was rushed to Kerry General Hospital but was later transferred to the burns unit of Cork University Hospital where she remains in a serious condition.

There are reports that she has also undergone several skin grafts and will require further procedures.
