Right on course for a career in media

The Kerry ETB centre where some of the training will take place

THOSE with a passion for news, sports, research and production, presenting music shows, podcasting or mobile journalism might be interested in two free-of-charge courses being offered by Radio Kerry in association with the Kerry ETB.

The eight-week introduction to radio broadcasting course will commence on September 9 and places will be filled on a first come, first served basis. They are limited to people over the age of 18 only and the closing date is Friday, August 23.

This course with industry practitioners offers an introduction to the key practical skills and experience needed to work in the radio and media sector with access to two training centers and digital broadcasting studios both in the Kerry ETB Training Centre at Monavalley and in Radio Kerry.

Recruitment is also taking place for a 50-week digital journalist and radio producer traineeship which will be based in Radio Kerry and the Kerry ETB Training Centre in Tralee. Commencing on November 18 it will be led by industry practitioners and it will include the opportunity to network with guest lecturers from media organisations.

Applications should be submitted to www.kerryetbtrainingcentre.ie and no fees apply for either course.
