THEY rolled back the years with considerable aplomb and wonderful attention to detail at Muckross House in Killarney to reflect on a Victorian Christmas with members of the Dochás Drama Group bringing all the essential characters to life.
Muckross House was built in 1843 which was the same year that the Charles Dickens classic Christmas story A Christmas Carol was penned and that fact was not lost on those responsible for the wonderful re-enactment for the enjoyment of invited guests who enjoyed a traditional mulled wine and mince pies reception.
The Dochás actors read the classic tale to guests and traditional Victorian Christmas decorations and oil lamps and candles were used in keeping with the Big House traditions favoured by the former estate owners the Herberts of Muckross.
