The hugely talented Sarah Leahy from Killarney competed for Team Ireland at the European Team Championships in Maribor, Slovenia at the weekend and she certainly left a most favourable impression.
The speed merchant stormed through the first leg of the Women’s 4x100m Relay with the team clocking a stunning 43.97 seconds.
She was part of a squad that featured Lucy-May Sleeman (Leevale AC), Lauren Roy (City of Lisburn AC), Sarah Lavin (Emerald AC) and Ciara Neville (Emerald AC).
They finished second overall and, in the process, they secured valuable points for Team Ireland.
Meanwhile, at the Irish Milers Meet in Dublin, Killarney Valley’s Oisin Lynch registered a commanding win in the 800m, crossing the line in a cool 1:49.96 and Jack O’Leary wasn’t far behind with a strong fourth place finish in 1:50.86.
Team Ireland, with 423 athletes competing, finished fifth in Division 2 of the European Athletics Team Championships, narrowly missing out on promotion to the top tier of the continental competition.
