PROGRESSIVE Kerry company Lee Strand this week launched the new Tetra Rex bio-based carton, the world’s first fully renewable pack.
Lee Strand’s €2 million manufacturing investment will offer customers a pack that is 100 per cent renewable and recyclable and the revolutionary carton is recognised as a major step forward in the development of truly sustainable packaging, winning many prestigious international awards.
Speaking at the launch, Lee Strand General Manager, John O’Sullivan, said there is a strong demand in the market for environmentally friendly packages and the new pack will offer customers a fully renewable carton and cap that is made from materials that can be traced back to their plant-based source.
“The pack is good for the environment and it offers customers a product they can hold in their hands and know that is it fully sourced from plant based materials. We are saving the planet one pack at a time – it is essentially the pack that grows back,” he said.
To celebrate the marketplace launch of Lee Strand’s new carton, customers will be given the chance to win a whopping €1,000 as Lee Strand and Radio Kerry will be calling at random to homes in Kerry from Monday, October 14 until Friday, November 1. If Lee Strand’s new 100 per cent renewable carton is in the fridge, they will win a hamper and all finalists will be in with a chance to win €1,000 at a live outside broadcast in Tralee on November 2.
Customers will also have a chance to win merchandise on Lee Strand’s social media by posting images of the new pack with the hashtag #ReMOOable.
Lee Strand has a strong commitment to environmental excellence and has achieved many awards and accreditations. Nominated by the Irish National Accreditation Board, the company has represented Ireland at the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme in Germany and it is also the only company in Ireland registered with the prestigious EMAS III accreditation.
Lee Strand has a proven track record in managing energy and sustainability and its commitment to sustainability and resource efficiency has been acknowledged by the achievement of Energy Manager of the Year Award 2008, a prestigious award made by Sustainable Energy Ireland.
