The debut EP from talented Killarney songwriter Amano and Cork producer Kalabanx (Garry McCarthy/GMCBeats), will be released on August 2.
The project was recorded at The Kabin Studio in Cork City and contributors to the EP include Liam Ó’Maonlaí on harp and vocals and Rónán Ó’Snodaigh on bodhrán.
The EP, THREAD, is described as an experimental Irish-language music project reaching beyond the rules of genre and finding ephemeral homes in trip hop, afrobeats, sean-nós, drum and bass, pop and electronica.

Gaelscoil Faithleann, Killarney
With emotive hollers from the spirit of the land, melodies woven of past and future traditions and base-heavy soundscapes that encapsulate Éire in an age of metamorphosis, Amano and Kalabanx say they have set out to take listeners on a journey into unchartered waters for ceol gaelach.
Amano attributes her love of sean-nós and the Irish language to her primary school days in Gaelscoil Faithleann, Killarney.
She later began to craft her performance style during Friday recitals in ‘The Well’ while at secondary school at Intermediate School Killorglin.
“The magic and landscape of County Kerry are an enduring source of inspiration in my work from poetry to song,” Amano said.
Available on all major streaming platforms from August 2, an extended edit of THREAD, including three additional live recordings, will also be released exclusively on Bandcamp.
The EP’s striking artwork was co-illustrated by Irish artists Aoife Tierney and Darach Ó Braonáin.
