KILLARNEY man Sean Taaffe has been appointed President of the Hairdressing Council of Ireland.
The innovative businessman said he is fully committed to fulfilling the promise of change and further develop the trade which is the largest and leading industry body in the country. Sean is also one of the council members on the steering group for the new hairdressing apprenticeship scheme to be launched later this year.
In his own business, he started out as a one-person operator and now currently has a team of 65 people in his five businesses in Kerry. He is currently completing his second year in Professional Business Development at the University of Limerick to further enhance his salon and educational company.
In competition, the Sean Taaffe Salon Group regularly wins awards, including Munster Salon of the Year and Salon of the Year in the Alfaparf & Schwarzkopf Business Awards.
Sean has represented Ireland several times at world level, bringing home bronze medals from the OMC World Championships in Frankfurt and the OMC Asia Cup Open in Malaysia in the fashion cut and colour categories. Last year he became a juror for OMC World Hairdressing Championships in Paris.
