Senator’s mother passes away in her 100th year

THE death has occurred in Killarney, in her 100th year, of Mrs Peggie Coghlan who is the mother of long-serving Fine Gael Senator and former Mayor of Killarney Paul Coghlan.

From Ballydowney, Killarney and formerly of Kilpatrick, Co Meath, Mrs Coghlan was married to the late Michael and she was the mother of Paul, Aileen, Anne, Michael and Michele.

She is sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, partners, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, many friends and the staff and residents at Killarney Nursing Home where she had spent her final years.

Mrs Coghlan was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Sean, Bernard, Fr Padraig, Sr Stanislaus OP and Eileen.

Reposing at O’Shea’s Funeral Home, Killarney on Wednesday from 4.30pm to 6.30pm, removal will take place afterwards to St Mary’s Cathedral.

Requiem Mass will be on Thursday at 10.30am with burial afterwards in Aghadoe Cemetery, Killarney.
